Spring Series - Japanese Knotweed (Reynoutria japonica)

  • Newburgh, NY 12550 (map)

Our intention with these workshops is to teach participants how to utilize the plants we will be focusing on, creatively and medicinally. A vast majority of plants will produce beautiful ranges of color as well as having medicinal benefits that enhance physical and mental well being. Open to all skill levels - these workshops will demonstrate how multi-faceted plants, mostly invasives, can be.

Open to all skill levels!

Next in our spring series is Japanese Knotweed! It is known for breaking through foundations and being completely impossible to get rid of. It also makes beautiful yellows and pinks on silk (as shown above) and the young shoots are eaten in the spring. In this workshop, we will learn how to identify, forage and utilize it!

Join us as we create a communal dye bath with Japanese Knotweed roots while also making a floral honey from a special spring flower, Lilac!

Each participant will leave their own dyed silk scarf, an info packet with a materia medica and info on how to dye at home along with their own lilac honey.

Sliding scale: $50-$65

This workshop will be held in Newburgh, NY - the address will be emailed to participants a day or two before the date.
